Cold Mountain Flooring was born from a simple belief: the floor is not just something you walk on—it’s something you live on. It should feel right under your feet, belong to the space it inhabits, and last long enough to tell a story of its own.

I began installing wood flooring in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1998 — working in adobe homes, territorial-style architecture, and high-desert environments where climate and craftsmanship matter. In 2005, I started my own flooring business in Northern New Mexico, building a reputation on quality installation, proper acclimation practices, and respect for historic homes.

In 2016, I expanded to the Pacific Northwest, establishing operations in Portland while maintaining my New Mexico work. Since then, Cold Mountain has operated in both regions — serving historic homes in Portland’s established neighborhoods as well as custom and traditional properties throughout Northern New Mexico.

My work ranges from modest family homes with tight budgets to large-scale custom design-build residences valued well into the eight figures. What matters most to me is not the size of the project, but the intention behind it. I’m drawn to work that requires finesse—projects where wood, space, light, and proportion must come together seamlessly. I love working with clients who value that quiet, deliberate craftsmanship and understand that true quality can’t be rushed.

Sustainability is not a marketing term here—it’s a responsibility. I prioritize environmentally conscious practices and locally sourced wood whenever possible, choosing materials with integrity and longevity in mind. Quality over quantity is not just a philosophy; it’s how I work. Some projects I complete solo, hands-on from start to finish. Larger projects allow for a carefully scaled crew when needed, without sacrificing standards or attention to detail.

I only take on work that lets me sleep well at night—knowing I’ve given my client the best product possible and the best value possible. I put my soul into this work, and that shows in the finished floor.

While I now work across regions, New Mexico remains deeply rooted in who I am as a craftsman. There is something grounding about working there—the land, the light, the people. It connects me to the earth and sky in a way that is both humbling and cathartic, and I’ve been fortunate to work with some of the most appreciative and thoughtful clients of my career there.

Cold Mountain Flooring is for those who believe craft still matters. For those who want materials to feel at home in their space. And for those who understand that the best work is done with patience, intention, and respect—for the wood, the place, and the people who will live with it.
